Mission and Philosophy
St. Elizabeth is a co-educational Catholic diocesan high school founded in the spirit of St. Francis and St. Dominic serving a diverse student population from Oakland and the surrounding communities. We are committed to fostering self-esteem; preparing students for college; and challenging them to live and proclaim the Gospel message, achieve academic success, and secure the skills necessary for life lived according to God’s plan.
The community of Saint Elizabeth High School believes that:
St. Dominic de Guzman founded the Order of Preachers, or Dominicans, at the beginning of the 13th Century. Dominic's mission in his time was amazingly similar to the mission statement of Saint Elizabeth High School. It is impossible to divide the Dominican prophetic message into various parts, as Dominic's convictions are the basis and structure of all our educational efforts. We are mindful of our mission to educate the whole person -- educating the heart as well as the mind.
